Are you a new Technic Builder?

LEGO Technic models are based on a different building system than the LEGO System you may be familiar with – but they’re still 100% LEGO elements! Gears, liftarms, pins, axles, and other elements are combined to make models that not only look great, but actually do something too: swivel, pivot, lift, rotate, and more.

It may look complicated, but you can build some really fun, easy Technic models in just a few minutes. Getting started is easy – just take a look at some of the simple Technic models in the Models section, for example.

Let’s look at the 9391 Tracked Crawler Crane set for an example of how much you can do with just a couple of hundred LEGO Technic elements. A liftarm (straight beam with holes for axles and pins) is extended and retracted using gears on axles, while the hook is lowered and raised on a string, also using gears. Tracked treads let the vehicle move in a realistic way, and the entire superstructure rotates back and forth. All this is accomplished using just 218 LEGO elements!
